  1. To be honest. I’m not really into Dubstep.

I’ve heard the first clips like a year ago, when they first surfaced on the internet and I see the progress that’s been going on on that. But I don’t like it. It’s like popmusic that’s just flowing through your ears. Strangely enough I like grime more. I see, that Dubstep Artist want to do real music instead of showing off your vocal skillz but it toooo slow. (That’s what I like about D&B.. well everyone likes his part in D&B). It’s not that I’m slaggin it off, it music. It’s music I can listen to, but it doesn’t give me that special tickle like other musical styles. (not only D&B!)

  2. This stuff is all a first for me. I guess its o.k.!!!!! I like that last tune Qawwali, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan style :-) Pretty creative me thinks.

  4. I said the first clips ON THE INTERNET! I know that Dubstepesque Tracks appeared much earlier (Horsepowerproduction, Zed Bias, and more…) and I know a little bit of Dubstep history and I heard Orson talk about it as he was one of the first I know who liked it. But that’s music, yardie. Music is different for everybody. Do you like Gabber? No? (I assume it now) I do. Most people don’t like it and say it’s noise and stupid and whatever. It’s music. I just wanted to say that I don’t like it. It’s another flash in the pan. And that’s OK. The pop comment was for the way I feel the music. It’s nice to listen to it, but in the moment it’s over it is over. Nothing really sticks in my head. Nad I see, what draws you into the music. You started out listening to raggae, it’s natrual that you like it. Everyone in D&B has another point when he or she got into it. JumpUp HipHop stuff, the techno stuff. That’s when I got into it. I liked it, I loved the ragga stuff too, but not as much as the technoid stuff. And I think it boring to see people explaining me, that every music is “so foward thinking and innovative”. It’s not. It’s dub with a more static vibe. used ideas. That’s what music is about. Incooperating ideas from other music. You like it or not. That’s why most people say: “So you listen to that D&B music. It’s dull and stupid…” What should I do, it’s their descision. And there is music out there that is more innovative than Dubstep. Just cos everybody jumps the London and the nerdy internet bandwagon makes the music better.

  5. This stuffs kinda new 2 me , but ill tell u now its B.i.G If u dun kno u should kno better

  6. Hey dis is halftime DN’B at the end of the day, like an endless intro that’s goes to infinity – def. home listening riddimz, in a club would need a big comfy sofa and some magic mushrooms, no dancefloor staggering!
Nice one Distance for Dark City sampling doominess, dis stuff needs symphonic atmosphere and film score touches to keep it fresh, still Benga’s reggae stuff is cold – who dat MC?

Merkage from all involved, dubstep, grime, dn’b, breakz – whatever it’s all about the breakbeat!

    Peace

  7. mixed feelings…theres a couple baltimore dj’s and surrounding md people spinning this(i rarely hear about this dubstep stuff)….if anything, i think this is kinda weird^^ but atleast they’re doing their thing.

  8. @ JVXP – first time i heard about Dubstep was around 2000/2001, Marc from ukgarage.de told me something about, at that time it was stuff like Oris Jay, Groove Chronicles, El-B., Horsepower and some CD by J da Flex which was included in a DEUCE mag a year later or so..i liked most of that stuff…hmmm, as for the internet stuff – they were just clips, right ? You mean those dubplate.net (RIP) kinda stuff ? Mostly the economical structure of Dubstep caused the tunes bein’ released very late, maybe they caught a release after a year or so, very average for that kind of music i guess, since it was very “new” at that point of time. As a result, those clips could never be anything more than just a fragment of the final release…Ah, and sorry, but i don’t think Dubstep’s just too “London” for jumping the bandwagon. If you take a look arounf the forums, and listen to those little statements in that Breezeblock session, you’ll find international approach. As you stated out, no, I do like some gabber stuff, since i’m not that limited in my musical tastes. I agree with you with some of your opinions on music in general. That wasn’t meant personal, though. I just try not to over-intellectualize music in general, but i have my own point of view of music being innovative, competitive or as you may say – forward thinking. I just don’t like people generalize things into cliché. The decisison depends on the personal taste of the consumer – so don’t give out any fault to any “urban” trends created by the media. Imho, that’s what overkilled D&B in the late 90’s – one can use the media, but don’ t let ’em in for free and don’t let ’em go too deeply. I’m too old for trendy hypocrites and developed a sharp sense for smelling bullshit. Many Greetings!!!

  9. nice one … this is my torrent ;-) has travelled well across the net ..

awesome show, seamless !!! a typical Breezeblock night tbh.

  10. Loving this shit to death. It’s different and refreshing. In my opinion whoever down plays dubstep doesnt have much of an open mind.I’m really feeling the Boxcutter shit right now…..Incredible!!!!!!!!

  11. This is absolutely wicked! A nice fresh breeze of air in the dull world of 4tothefloor (imho that is and being a fresh dubstep listener). Thanks for this set!

  12. i have owned a record store for almost 10 years now and we are closing next month. in that time i have had maybe (yes, maybe) 8 or 9 tracks come in that qualify as this sound. also, knowing some cats in Seattle (rama, drop-d, and the zion gates crew) helped get me introduced to this proper-proper sound.

so looking forward to the continuation of the dub. fukin sick ya’ll.

it only gets better. can’t imagine if i smoked (which i don’t, just a lush)

late night in the shop, KRAIT beers and subs all the way up.

    cheers, ed-lush
