8. Yo Breakage isn’t really good at being a DJ than a Studio Producer. He’s tracks for Bassbin are the fucking “Gread A+ Kickass” when it comes to some “Amen Sir.” Like Chris INP he choppage of the breaks is really technical and very veristile.

   But in my opinion Breakage hasn’t yet reach the level of the greatest beat programmer the world has ever seen.

   And that man is Dev Panya aka Paradox……..

   Breakage is good don’t get me wrong, and Chris INP was right to sign him up to
   (Bassbin)…………But he still has a long way to go from Dev who’s excellently fantastic when him and Nucleus hits the tracks. Not to mention Seba who has smooth atmospheric soundscapes to counter Devs ruff funk edges.

   I’mma peep this 1Xtra Mix because it’s special, when it comes down to some technical Amen and Thinkbreak. And I do forgive Breakage in experinced DJing profession……….But hey he’s trying and he’s pushing the Dn’B Amen sound.

10. I like some of Breakage’s sound though some of it can be a bit dull. Same with Amit but I won’t deny his talent either.
    Gotta admit he is tremendously talented for such a young guy but I will say this.. I think that Dev Paradox is an overall better beat programmer in terms of variety and actually programming new breaks as opposed to strict choppage ( still nothing is like Photek or Source Direct back in the day BUT… ) but I’m not fully into what he is doing now ( not including the stuff with Seba which is tight ). The new/old atmospheric stuff is a bit hit or miss. Some of it sounds a bit TOO dated which is cool but then again so is progress..

    That being said, I think Chris Inperspective probably didn’t sign him to Bassbin.. Get it? Chris INPERSPECTIVE.. He might have signed a few tunes to inperspective.. just a thought.

    yo R2K+CMD- breakage’s beats are right on par with dev paradox, no need to pitch these two against each other. they do to diff things and are kings at what they do. just listen and enjoy, doesnt get much better than this.

14. One thing I can definitely appreciate about tracks like “Losing Track” is the sort of atmospheric dub influence and the sheer energy of that break which achieves a certain tribalism. Even though it’s a classic break he has layered and edited it to perfection which is a testament to his patience and time spent in the studio..

    Yo dual I definitely agree with that statment said. Though I do think that chris later on realized the talent and skills of Breakage. Because he has had a good track record when it comes to laying down some new Breaks that are mutated hybrids of there former selves.

    Ohh and another thing Tim…………….!!!

    There are Amen breaks in this mix, maybe you wasn’t listening to closely. There was some other forms of mutated breaks that was of Amen status. Example (RAmen,TRAmen,) and some other variations of breaks that didn’t quite partain to the “Amen” like “Thinkbreak” or Two Drums and one Bass for Jump up styles which Breakage did in his new tracks that was sound choppage.

    And yes I did take a SERIOUS LISTEN to the whole mix, so thank u very much mister.

    The only thing I hated about this mix was that DJ Flight kept TALKING AND TALKING over some of the music tracks which I definitely wanted to hear. I really botherd me when she and breakage wouldn’t stop for some min’s to just hear the tunes………..!!! Again thats just my opinion, which mostly at 1xtra Groove,Flight,Double seem to have a nasty habit of talking over the music and forgetting that people JUST WANNA LISTEN….AND LESS TALKING ON THE AIR!!!

    The only one that really doesn’t blabber too much is DJ Baily.

17. hmmmm… i really like the talking bit, as it offers quite a bit of information. as for example, breakage mentions his favourite break still is and probably will be the amen break…

18. @ R2K+CMD – This was not a MIX it’s a RADIO SHOW, on radio shows you find the DJ has to present/talk. If you have any suggestions for doing an interview within a radio programme using little to no speech then I’m all ears.

    I think you’ll find Bailey doesn’t really have guests on his show, that is why there is less chat some of the time.

    I think it made a nice change for people to hear where Breakage is coming from musically- it’s his debut LP so there is a lot to be said about it, if you want to hear all the tunes mixed back to back with no chat go buy his LP and spin it in your room ;P

    But there is one thing though? If this whole interview didn’t have a mix involved, then why does it have a “Tracklist” in the begining of the show before Breakage comes on the air explain some feedback on what it is he’s working on.

    Again there is a “Tracklist” in the beginning……So that does point to some mixing involved even though I myself was WRONG to say the whole show was a Mix when in fact it was a MIX/RADIO SHOW.

    Half and Half……..either way I still liked the tracks AND I DO THINK YOUR FINE ASS HELL FLIGHTY.

39. brakage and i are old firends we both started producing at the same time but his mind and creativity has always been one step ahead. i use to sit and watch him produce this guy has got skills not doubt. i have not heard him dj for years but i know hes got talent. ive heard tracks which has neva been released believe me he’s hot. i use to think i wish i had dem skills. hats of to your bruv.
