“… Every time I hear a new tune, it’s a great experience but if I listen to it too much, It becomes predictable and I start to pick out imperfections in it. I then wonder what I would have done if I made the tune myself and when I put those ideas into practice; I end up with a mince-meat mix. Some people would say that I am just remixing, but I don’t see myself as a remixer. Looking at how the DJ scene has developed over the past 50 years, I have concluded that a DJ is an interpreter of records. A DJ plays records depending on how they want to hear them. From John Peel to King Tubby, from Kool Herc to Q-Bert, DJs are always creating new techniques of how to play a record. I have merely created another way.”
